Designer starts with wrong language

Hi,

Strange i didn't find anything about this behaviour:

Designer 4.8.4
Linux

When i start designer, it uses the wrong language. I want to have it in english, but get it in german.

The whole system was set up in english, later i changed some settings to german specific settings like date format, but did not change the language. Even with "LANG=en designer", again the menus are german.

This also leads to german default texts in buttons i want to place in my UI. Sure i could edit them back to english, but i'd rather want to change the wrong beahviour.

Does someone have an idea how to fix this?

Sorry for replying to this ancient thread, but for some reason it is still high in Google's results if you search for '"Qt designer" language' (without the '), so I deem it reasonable to post here regardless.

This problem is very annoying, because the German translation is incomplete for Qt 5.7.0 in Windows, i.e. most words are German and some are English. I read on some other website that you can just rename the qm file and it works. I went to the installation folder, searched for qm files, found "designer_de.qm" ([installation-folder]\Qt5.7.0\5.7\msvc2015\translations), backed it up, copied "designer_en.qm" and renamed the copy to "designer_de.qm".

Then I restarted Qt Designer and it was English.
