Low-res controls when running Qt Creator as root

Hi guys,

I recently installed Qt Creator on a HP Mini 210 (running Ubuntu 10.04) and I have noticed a disturbing problem.
When running as normal user, everything is fine, but when running as root, my controls look like the ones from Windows 95.
I attached 2 pictures to be more clear.

How can I solve this problem?
Thank you in advance.

I have this problem ONLY on the netbook, on the desktop (VirtualBox), everything is ok.

It might have something to do with the window style that root has. Did you try logging in with root in the xwindows and change the window style?
