qt ipc help needed

all,

I would needs an application which has a public signal, on which other applications can connect to...
i should then be able to emit that signal allowing the other applications to react on it!

Ex:
i have an updater application, which needs to inform the main application that new data is available.

It looks to me that QT has an api defined for this (DBUS solution, i guess, for linux only), but i can't really find a
simple example on how to do this...

Is there someone willing to give me a little "helloworld" solution?

I would greatly appreciate :!:

Thanks in advance
RvN

How about using QLocalSocket and QLocalServer?
