designer crashes kde session

Hi,

I have tried my hardest to solve this one myself and am now turning here in deperation.

Frequently the QT designer crashes and sinks the entire kde session. Most times back to the kdm login but sometimes locking the whole machine, including all consoles. It doesn't seem to matter what activity is being persued, editing widgets, previewing the form, etc. However it is most prevalent (say 70%) when using the [Source] item on the context menu.

It could happen 2 or 200 minutes into a design session.
Load on the box is average, but I have even tried driving down the load to a bare kdm service.

There is no crash log generated and no entry in any log that looks vaguely relevant.

Config
PCLinuxOS on P3 processor with 600MB RAM
Designer 3.4.4 loaded from PCLOS main repository and verified, (also tried using an alt repos with verify)
Screen resolution 1400x1050 (I tried lowering this back to 1024x768 with no change in this behaviour)

Can anyone give me any ideas on where to look next?

Well, I have tried to run it from a kde console (Konsole) but it still leaves no traceables.

Is it possible to run it from an actual console? If so, how?
