Two TabeleViews/ one fixed horizontal and one expanding

Two TabeleViews/ one fixed horizontal and one expanding

hi, i try to put two tableviews in a widged but the left one shoud be smaller because it has only one or two columns. As soon as i apply a layout either on the view or on the parent widget (so that ist resizes vertically on resizing the whole window) it always switches to 256 px width.
Isn't it possible to have a view with less width?

picture one shows how it should look like. But it is without any layout. so resizing the window wont adjust the childs.
