Graphics "view" help!

Hi guys,

I am looking for a suitable widget/class/view to show some advanced data(like chart, but looks like a bitmap) where I can operate on pixels(but not only), that can be or is build of layers( I can change the background layer of the view and the foreground would be still the same - > not changing the whole view/picture, etc). Classes connected with graphics are my Achilles's heel, that's why I ask for help/advise.
I will try to give more conditions in the future.

THanks in advance for help!

Maverick

P.S. What do you think about QGraphicsView ?
